Southwest Oral History Association: The Purpose of the organization is to provide a vehicle for communication among persons, programs, and institutions using oral testimony; to encourage cooperation among its members; to promote standards among oral historians, to foster an understanding of and use of oral history; to provide guidance to projects; to create educational programs and resources; to aid in securing financial funding for members’ projects.

Oral History Association (OHA): The Oral History Association, established in 1966, seeks to bring together all persons interested in oral history as a way of collecting and interpreting human memories to foster knowledge and human dignity. With an international membership, the OHA serves a broad and diverse audience. Local historians, librarians and archivists, students, journalists, teachers, and academic scholars from many fields have found that the OHA provides both professional guidance and a collegial environment for sharing research.

Michigan Oral History Association (MOHA): The mission of MOHA is to provide for effective cooperation and communication among persons, programs and institutions concerned with the techniques, uses and promotion of oral history in Michigan.

Texas Oral History Association (TOHA): TOHA’s story began in October of 1982, when the Oral History Association brought its national meeting to the Menger Hotel in San Antonio. At that conference, a group of forty Texans discussed their mutual interest in forming a state organization for oral historians. They were university and college faculty members and students, secondary school teachers, librarians, archivists, journalists, folklorists, local historians, and genealogists.

Southern Oral History Program (SOHP): Since 1973, the Southern Oral History Program has worked to preserve the voices of the southern past. We have collected more than 5,000 interviews with people from all walks of life—from mill workers to civil rights leaders to future presidents of the United States. Made available through UNC’s renowned Southern Historical Collection online, these interviews capture the vivid personalities, poignant personal stories, and behind-the-scenes decision-making that bring history to life.

Canadian Oral History Association (COHA): The Canadian Oral History Association was formed to help the diverse individuals and groups who express an interest in oral history and to deal with these problems by providing a clearing-house for information and a link among projects underway across Canada.
