In 2026, the Ukrainian Oral History Association will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding. To mark this milestone, a series of events and initiatives is planned for 2025-2026 to reflect on the achievements of the past two decades and outline new directions for the future. The Summer Institute will take place in Uzhhorod on 11–14 August 2026 and will focus on the limits of testimony and on the methodological, ethical, and interpretive challenges of engaging with silence, self-censorship, and the unspoken in war narratives.
The conference dedicated to an interdisciplinary discussion of the challenges of collecting, preserving, interpreting, and academically using oral history sources will take place in Chernihiv on February 20-21, 2026.
The first webinar in the series “Histories of the Past – Challenges of the Present: 20 Years of UOHA” will be held on November 27, 2025, with a talk by Gelinada Grinchenko, Co-Chair of the Ukrainian Oral History Association
