To mark the 20th anniversary of the Ukrainian Oral History Association, we are launching the jubilee webinar series “Histories of the Past – Challenges of the Present: 20 Years of UOHA.”
The series aims to reflect on the development of Ukrainian oral history – from the first collected testimonies to today’s interdisciplinary research – and to explore how topics, methods, and ethical approaches have evolved amid war and global transformations of memory.
Throughout this anniversary year, we will host conversations with leading Ukrainian and international scholars, practitioners, and experts.
The webinars will focus on the most pressing issues in oral history today – including oral testimony archives, the use of oral histories in the public sphere, and the methodological and ethical challenges researchers face in wartime, from questions of safety and trauma to the historian’s responsibility toward witnesses and society.
