Who We Are

The Ukrainian Oral History Association (UOHA) serves as an information, consultation, and coordinating academic platform, uniting Ukrainian and international specialists who use oral history methods in their research. The association was established in October 2006 at the initiative of participants in the interdisciplinary academic conference “Oral History in Contemporary Social and Humanitarian Studies: Theory and Practice of Research.”

In 2023, in response to new challenges faced by the academic community due to Russia’s war against Ukraine—including the growing need for professional recording, the expansion of research fields, and the urgent necessity for efficient processing and preservation of war testimonies—the UOHA announced a reboot of its activities and a restructuring of its organization.

Our Mission
