A collection of articles of the UOHA members “Listening, Hearing, Understanding: An Oral History of Ukraine in the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries” (Kyiv, 2021) has been published.
The articles explore various aspects of Ukraine’s history in the 20th and 21st centuries, with a particular focus on recent and ongoing events such as the Revolution of Dignity and the Russian-Ukrainian War. The research addresses key issues in contemporary oral history methodology and practice, including the politicization of oral history topics, the relationship between political engagement, scholarly ethics, and academic responsibility, as well as the tensions and interactions between oral history, memory, collective representations, and academic discourse.
Special attention is given to reflections on the application of oral history methodology in analyzing crises and pivotal historical moments, along with their present-day consequences.
