Announcement for the Third Annual Symposium “The Most Documented War: Enacting Archives”

23.01.2025

We are delighted to invite you to the third annual symposium, “The Most Documented War: Enacting Archives”, a platform to discuss pressing issues surrounding the documentation and archiving of experiences from the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, academic, cultural, and activist communities have been working tirelessly to preserve the testimonies of this war. Over a hundred initiatives across Ukraine have collected eyewitness accounts, photographs, diaries, and records of destroyed heritage, archived social media activity, and even documented wartime dreams.

The first symposium in 2023 connected these communities, fostering collaboration. The second symposium in 2024 focused on the ethics and practices of international cooperation, highlighting the support provided by institutions in Ukraine and abroad.

This year, the symposium will explore how these collected materials are evolving into archives, their impact on knowledge production, and their role in achieving justice and shaping memory. Together, we will address questions such as:

The program will feature diverse formats, including panel discussions, Q&A sessions, networking opportunities, thematic walks, film screenings, trainings, and informal exchanges of experiences.

Working Languages: Ukrainian and English

Please register here by February 25, 2025. Participation confirmations will be sent by March 10, 2025.
